The use of medical mineral white oil in thermotherapy in Europe.

The medicinal use of oil goes back centuries. In those areas where oil was poured onto the surface of the earth, the local population used it to treat the musculoskeletal system and skin diseases of humans and animals. There is a lot of evidence that the medicinal effect of oil has been known to many peoples from ancient times. The Egyptians, Assyrians and Babylonians used it to treat certain skin diseases and wounds. The first written mention of medicinal oil for its medicinal properties gave the name Naftalan and its export with camel caravans from the village of Safi in Azerbaijan, located 15 km from the present city of Naftalan, is found in the poems of the great Azerbaijani poet and philosopher Nizami Ganjavi (1141-1201). In a poetic form, he mentions his observations of how caravans of camels in wineskins transported oil mixed with sand across mountains and deserts to foreign states, and describes how his mother with naftalan cured his father, who was wounded while hunting. The second written report about naftalan is found in the records of the famous Italian traveler of the 13th century Marco Polo.On the way to China, he passed through Azerbaijan along the Silk Road, he wrote that there is a large well with mountain oil, which can be loaded with many camels. This oil is not used for food, but only instead of an ointment for curing skin diseases in people and livestock, as well as for other ailments. Only at the end of the 19th century did the German engineer concissioner E.I. The Jaeger managed to build a small factory for the production of ointment near the wells with naphthalan oil, borrowing at the same time the folk experience of treatment with naphthalan. In 1886 E.I. Yeger rents several plots from the treasury of Azerbaijan and begins drilling where he could easily clog the oil "gusher" and where he could enrich himself. Not finding industrial oil, the engineer, however, decided to use the healing properties of naphthalan, building a small factory for the production of ointment near the wells of naphthalan. He also roughly boarded up the premises and erected cemented bathrooms for women and men, and for the first time began to receive payment for the use of naftalan from patients who came for treatment. This is how the wide scale marketing of Jaeger's naftalan ointments began not only in Russia, but also abroad. We must pay tribute to the fact that the Jaeger, using all the possibilities of that time, informed the world about the healing properties of naftalan. The first scientific article about naftalan was published in Germany by Isaac R. in 1896. The Dresden Joint Stock Company "Naftalan" has issued a manual on the use of naftalan, in which, in addition to articles by E.I. Jaeger, included more than 600 brief reviews of doctors about the merits of this drug. In 1896, at a meeting of the Caucasian Medical Society in Tiflis, the doctor R.G. Rosenbaum made a report on the use of naftalan for skin diseases, mainly in the form of an ointment, with which the healing glory of naftalan began. Subsequently, the works of B.I. Feldman, A.Kh. Jafarov and B.A. Eyvazov, R.S. Braud, G.V. Vygodchikov, G.I. Levitas, N.G. Tereshchin and others. All of them unanimously gave a high assessment to the medicinal properties of naphthalan in many musculoskeletal and skin diseases.

In 2004, for the first time in history, our company refined the native Naftalan oil and obtained an oily fraction where the active substance is naphthenic and steroid hydrocarbons was used in the technology of thermal therapy with medical mineral white oil for diseases of the musculoskeletal system and its rehabilitation and skin diseases. All this was organized by the founder and leader investor of the companies Naftalan Farm Group LLC and AZEICG LLC with a team of medical scientists from Azerbaijan and Russia together with the Scientific Institute of Resortology and Rehabilitation of Russia under the leadership of General Director Hasanov Azizali Mastali oglu outside Azerbaijan. 4 Eurasian Patents and one Trademark of the Brand have been obtained for the use of medicinal mineral white oil in balneology with thermotherapy technology. In one of the medical centers in Moscow, equipment was developed and installed jointly with the Scientific Institute of Resortology and Rehabilitation of Russia under the name "thermos sterilizer" for reusable use in a balneological bath of medical mineral white oil for the treatment of the musculoskeletal system, its rehabilitation and skin diseases.
For the treatment and rehabilitation of the musculoskeletal system, one of the types of medical mineral white oil was used with a special physical and chemical composition to the vital substances for humans, sterols and vitamins D, an important biological effect is polycyclic naphthenic hydrocarbons. The medical mineral white oil called Pastilet Naftalan Oil was first obtained at the Scientific Institute of Petrochemistry of Azerbaijan by Academician Yu. G. Mamedaliev in 1953. It is polycyclic naphthenic hydrocarbons with short side chains, steranes and isoparaffins obtained from naphthalan oil. It is a white liquid, odorless and colorless with no toxicity. Has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, desensitizing, angioprotective effect. Medical mineral white naphthalan oil lowers the tone of smooth muscles, dilates blood vessels, improves blood rheological properties, lipid peroxidation processes, normalizes blood coagulation properties, has a regenerating anti-inflammatory effect on skin manifestations of the disease, promotes regression and resorption of psoriatic elements, reduces the area of the affected surface and reducing the intensity of clinical manifestations of dermatosis, restores the locomotor function of the musculoskeletal system, improves microcirculatory processes in the articular tissues, which is due to the analgesic, anti-inflammatory and spasmolytic effects. The medicinal mineral white oil is rapidly absorbed into the skin, especially under the influence of heat and phonophoresis. According to the data of immunohistochemical analysis, it was found that the positive effect of "naphthalan oil pastilet" in naphthalan therapy on the skin is provided by the correction of abnormalities in the immune system, expressed by a decrease in the proportion of keratinocytes expressing the HLA DR antigen, cells, carriers of the adhesive molecule vlaβ, the severity of dermal infiltration in the epidermis cytotoxic lymphocytes, as well as an increase in the number and restoration of uniform distribution of Langerhans cells in the epidermis; most accurately, the degree of clinical remission of skin lesions in patients with psoriatic arthritis reflects the dynamics of the decrease in the expression of HLA DR on keratinocytes.

The main method of thermal therapy with medicinal mineral white oil is to obtain a general or sedentary bath with medicinal mineral white naphthalan oil for the extremities. The temperature of naphthalan in the baths is not higher than 37-38 ° C. The duration of the first 2 procedures is 8 minutes each, followed by 10-12 minutes with a break on the third day or every other day. The course of treatment is 10-12 procedures. If the balneological reaction started late (after 8-9 procedures) and stopped by the 9-10th procedures, then their number should be increased to 15. A sit-down bath is prescribed when the joints of the lower extremities, the lumbosacral region, the sciatic nerve are to be treated, as well as peripheral vascular diseases. These baths with naphthalan oil are also recommended for signs of cardiovascular insufficiency. The principle of getting a sitz bath is the same as when getting a shared bath. The limbs can be assigned procedures in the form of one, two and four-chamber baths. After taking a bath, you need to rest for 1 to 2 hours. On the day of taking the naftalan bath, other general physiotherapy procedures are not recommended. Local treatments are recommended for treating comorbid conditions. For example, UHF for the maxillary cavity, ascending or hygienic shower, local darsonvalization, all types of treatment with galvanic current, local ultrasound therapy, local ultraviolet radiation. If patients are unable to take naphthalan baths, treatment is prescribed in the form of general or local lubrication with naphthalan oil. Apply naphthalan oil to the skin in a thin layer. The oiled area is subject to irradiation by artificial sources of heat rays - Solux lamps, a local electric light bath, an infrared irradiator. To prevent exacerbation or subacute inflammation, a low filament of the Sollux lamp should be used. This reduces the amount of heat rays and increases the intensity of the infrared rays. The latter have a more pronounced anti-inflammatory effect. The degree of heating can also be adjusted by decreasing (50 cm) or increasing (100 cm) the distance between the lamp and the irradiated surface. The duration of the procedure is 20-30 minutes. The procedure can be carried out 2 days in a row with a break on the 3rd day or every other day. The course of treatment is 12-15 procedures. Lubrication with naphthalan oil has a number of advantages over traditional naftalan baths with native naftalan. For gynecological diseases, tampons are used. Before inserting the tampon into the vagina, it is treated with a solution of "Rekutan" or "Ramozovan" for 10 minutes. After that, a tampon made of cloth (bandage - cotton wool) is abundantly moistened with medical mineral white oil, heated to 40 ° C, and inserted into the vagina. The duration of the procedure is 4-5 hours. The course of treatment is 15-20 procedures.
Naftalan microclysters are used for gynecological diseases, prostatitis, hemorrhoids, and fissures in the colon. After the enema, the patient is injected with medical mineral white oil, heated to 41-42 ° C, in the amount of 15-25 ml, 12-15 procedures, daily.
